Phra Ngan 山神

Phra Ngan 山神

Phra Ngan was originated from Cambodia and was classified as a mountain deity. It is not part of the mainstream Buddhism. Most of the statues and amulets created during the Ayutthaya period were made of metal and has a simple design. There are plenty of misconceptions and hearsay about Phra Ngan’s’ nature and exact origin. The latter has near similar shape as a Buddha, but with a pointy tip and wearing a crown. However, it is not a Buddha, but a mountain deity with high magical powers.
Phra Ngan is very powerful and can help people do what they want in a short period. It could be good or evil, depending on how the person uses it. The latter is regularly used to increase “wealth via lucky means” like winning the lottery, improves the relationship with others and the ability to block black magic, hence people in the unorthodox businesses likes to worship it.
