What Is Palakit?

So what exactly is "Palakit" or "Palakid"? Why is it in the shape of a male genital organ? Is it unorthodox or black magic? This article will explain the origins of Palakit, its meaning & importance in and the uses of it in both the ancient and modern context....

There are many school of thoughts and different beliefs so here we will just select 1 of them to share.

As Thai Buddism is closely associated with Hinduism, Palakit is believed to be a tradition and belief that influenced Thai society, originating from India.

In Hinduism, particularly Shaivism, Lord Shiva is being worshipped and believed as the Supreme Being who creates, protects and transforms the universe. Lord Shiva is commonly represented & worshipped by the aniconic "Linga" or "Shiva Lingam". It is a short cylindrical pillar symbol, made of stone, clay, metal, wood, gem or other materials and is commonly found in the sanctum of Shiva temples where people pray and worship to it as a form of communication to Lord Shiva. Shiva Lingam is often revered as the emblem of generative power and symbolizes creation.

The belief and tradition was brought into Thai Buddhism and Palakit is believed to be closely related to or in fact is another form of Shiva Lingam. Also similar to the concept of Ying & Yang in taoism, Palakit represents the Yang energy. It symbolizes the ultimate creator, the totality of all existence, all of creativity & fertility at every cosmic level.

Hence, Palakit is actually not a form of black magic or just symbol of male genital organ. It is the master of creation and existence. It creates opportunities and great things, destroying all evils and represents Lord Shiva.

Many Thai great masters believed that Palakit will provide their bearers with great opportunities and energy, dispel all evils and create many good things in life. Palakit also strongly increases Metta and attraction as it also symbolizes the strong male fertility ability.

Palakid is especially good for Metta especially in sales, businesses, human relationship, socializing and even metta maha seneh. It can also help its bearers avoid danger, grants protection & destroy all evils. The effectiveness & purpose of the Palakid also depends on the yant that is inscribed onto the Palakid, the wiccas & kathas that were used to bless the Palakid and the master's level of practice in his wicca, samadhi, dharmma & art of Palakit making.
